Upholstery Care
Vacuuming, extraction and spot treatment for lobby seating and office chairs, scheduled on the same day as carpet care.
Chapter 01
The cushion you keep turning over
If you have caught yourself turning over the cushions of your office furniture, you know the move. It hides a stain from visitors for a while, but it leaves the real problem in place, and long term damage eventually means buying replacements.
The other cost is less visible. Upholstery traps allergens and soils, and that affects the health of staff and customers, especially in a waiting room or a lobby where many different people sit down every day. Waiting until the furniture looks dirty is waiting too long, so the better call comes before it shows.
Sunlight adds its own damage. Furniture kept in the sun fades over time, and that is one more reason seating near windows deserves attention.

Vacuum, extract, then treat the spots
Upholstery care works much like carpet extraction. The crew starts by vacuuming to remove surface soil. Then comes extraction, the deep clean: a wand scrubs water and cleaner into the upholstery, and suction lifts the soil trapped inside. Spot treatment follows for any stains that remain.
The products and methods are safe for all kinds of upholstery, and safe for human and animal contact. That matters in a waiting room, a school office or a lobby, where the furniture is used all day by people who never think about what was used to clean it.
To keep the schedule easy, book upholstery care on the same day as your regularly scheduled carpet cleaning. The same tools and methods are needed for both, which saves the crew and you time and money.
Chapter 03
Twice a year or quarterly, and what to do about spills
Upholstery care should be performed semi-annually or quarterly, depending on the condition of the furniture. Which of the two fits depends on how the pieces look and how hard they are used, so the schedule follows the condition of the furniture.
Spills need immediate attention. Blot them right away with a damp, clean cloth. Professional care is the ideal, but a quick blot is the right first response until the crew can get to it.
To protect the fabric over the long term, keep furniture out of the sun as much as possible, and rotate pieces that sit near windows, which helps protect the fabric. If seating starts to show wear between visits, tell the support team.
Upholstery care at OctoClean is scheduled with carpet day, and franchise owners carry general liability, workers' compensation and a $25,000 janitorial bond.

Seating that a lot of people share
Upholstered seating does the most work in waiting areas and school offices. OctoClean sets up cleaning programs for both, and you can read how they are handled on the healthcare page and the education page.
